∝∝Practice

It takes practice …

for me to genuinely take a compliment.

for me to stop second guessing myself.

for me to not over think every aspect of my life.

for me to realize we are not the same and that’s why I can’t compare myself to all my friends.

for me to see that everyone is not built alike, let alone like me.

for me to understand that not everything I want is necessarily good for me.

and for me to enjoy the pace and direction of my life as it is now.

“Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your world seems upset.”

-thegoodquote

It took practice …

for me NOT to automatically assume that someone’s true intentions towards me are in my best interest.

for me to stop questioning GOD about why my grandma couldn’t beat cancer or why my cousin couldn’t have dodged that bullet to his head that night.

to stop blaming myself for people who willingly left my life at the worst times, it seemed.

for me to realize that this is GOD’S work, I have to play the cards that I’m dealt, and that I have to put in overtime to make things happen. #NeverGivingUp

for me not to assume that everyone knows what I go through and actually care about it.

for me to know that I can’t please everyone and I can only really live for me.

for me to understand that a lot of people don’t/can’t grasp how in depth, real, and complex  I really am.

to give myself credit for how far I’ve come.

It takes practice, for me to NOT define my current situation as my final destination.

I’ve come to the conclusion that if I didn’t have the life that I do, I  wouldn’t have all this goodness to share with you all.

While the saying goes “Live life with no regrets.”, there’s always those days you wish you could have a moment back so you could do things differently.

This particular post is partially  inspired by August Alsina’s new album, “This Thing Called Life”. After hearing his new single, “Song Cry”  I literally fell in love and in tears, lol.

I could relate so well to his pain, which I’m sure a lot of other people could as well. It made me remember that not everyone given the label of being a “celebrity” identifies with that. In fact, it takes practice to deal with the funny people you encounter not only in the music world but in the world period.

I admire how transparent he is with his life.  This characteristic is one for the brave; and is also why it’s something I want to make sure I portray in my work all the time.

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act but a habit.”

-Aristole

Transparency is a great trait to practice because there’s pureness in it. When exercising this trait, there is nothing that anyone can throw in my face/ her face/ his face, (that actually has some truth to it) that no one doesn’t already know about. You can’t throw dirt on anyone’s name because the credibility is visible for everyone to see. There is nothing for people to tear you down with and unfortunately that bothers miserable people a lot.

Embrace transparency.

It takes practice, to stay level headed while dealing with everything people pull from left and right to discourage you. The tests of faith, trust, and patience, within yourself and your work are the two main obstacles that you must persevere through.

Note: Keep practicing in order to prevail!

Anyone with a goal/ dream/ idea whose reading this I encourage you to keep a float! I know first hand how challenging everyday can be but if you are destined to serve a purpose then it’s inevitable for your path will seem abnormal.

As we go into Christmas this Friday, I want you to keep at it!

Question: Keep at what?

Answer: Whatever it is that makes the world/ your world a better place.

Keep singing, keep painting, keep dancing and keep being passionate about what you love because the world needs you!

This thing called life takes practice.

Remember: Harder paths = Higher callings.

“If you don’t practice, you don’t deserve to win.”

-Andre Agassi

“Knowledge is a treasure, but practice is the key to it.”

-Lao Tzu

  1. This blog was very inspirational personally. The line I can most relate to practice learning not to define my current situation as my final destination. I’m made to do much more than I currently am. Thank you Chantelle for your words of wisdom and keep uplifting through your diction. Great blog!!! Will be looking for the next!

It takes practice for me to gain and become greater! And thats all there is to it. No reason to settle. Thanks for the post Chantelle!

  3. “Perfect practice = perfect” this was a great topic! Thank you for that Chantelle! My brother had actually read that Aristotle quote to me 2 days ago and I love it!! If that dosent put things into perspective I don’t know what does. We’ll all continue to practice good lives and in the end good things will find us. Thanks again honey 🙂

  4. I love it! Perfect timing too, coming into the new year, you know there’s no better time to reevaluate life and what we tend to “practice”. Practice something frequent enough and it becomes a habit. 👏🏼
