L E M O N A D E // Purple Rain

“The most disrespected person in America, is the black woman. The most unprotected person in America, is the black woman. The most neglected person in America, is the black woman.”

– Malcolm X

“The BLACK WOMAN is the most unprotected, unloved woman on earth…she is the only flower on earth…that grows unwatered.”

Notice, that we still do grow but without water.

How is that possible?

Why is that?

How are we supposed to lead our young people to the future?

How do we lead our boys through the path of knowing the value of women.

How do we lead our girls in the direction of loving themselves first before anyone.

How do we do it?

The answer is simple,

LOVE.

We have to break the curse that has been passed down from generation to generation that the woman is worthless and is only good for one thing. We have to acknowledge that there is injustice and that as a people we CAN move forward from the unnecessary hatred and deceit of the rewritten past.

Love, love was the main concept in Beyoncé’s newly released visual album: LEMONADE.

For me it hit home. It hit home for many different reasons.

I feel like every second of the video was necessary. Each pause, each lyric, each scene was accurately orchestrated to convey her moods in each stage of the process to recovery. In order to get it, you have to how everything contributes to the tone.

Everyone likes to act as if they don’t feel, but she reminded us that love is stronger than whatever is keeping you hidden.

In due time, God will reveal your truth.

From the tweets and memes on instagram, if you have not seen the video, you would probably think that she was just sitting there bashing Jay-Z. But no, of course not. There was more that wasn’t being highlighted and that’s why I couldn’t wait to watch it for myself because people are shallow.

I knew that she was too classy and profound to leave it at just going off and saying F**K you, so I continued to watch it. This is where she proceeded to intensely articulate how her experience all came around full circle.

I bet a lot of you all were hoping that she did divorce him. You were so stuck on finding out who “Becky with the good hair” was, when quite frankly, that was irrelevant. You were hoping she satisfied your guilty conscience of who you did wrong or gave up on by keeping her distance, throwing in the towel, and moving on to the next, because that’s the safe thing to do right?

No one cheats on Beyoncé, right?

No. We’re all human and she is risking it all.

“Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it’s cracked up to be. That’s why people are so cynical about it. It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don’t risk anything, your risk even more.”

-Erica Jong

Beyoncé is letting you all see that she is above no one and she will fight for the reason she has all this success and fame in the first place. It’s what Queens do.

 She stays.

I wish this generation could see past the surface. When you all thought Beyoncé was about to pack up her shit and move on to the next, she threw you off for a second, and dwelled on the real issue because it was necessary.

Not saying that her feelings of intuition, denial, and anger were not true, but her love overrides her pride. All of that emotion would mean nothing if she didn’t channel it back in the direction of her love.

It’s such a crazy, uncontrollable, and irreplaceable feeling.

So, since it took Beyoncé being vulnerable with the world for you all to realize the definition of a relationship and how they work or don’t work sometimes, maybe you should have fought for what you didn’t.

Take a look at yourself.

Maybe you should have trusted.

Maybe you should have actually tried.

Maybe you should have been true and honest in your every move.

Maybe you should have matched that effort.

Maybe you should have listened to your heart, instead of the poison that seeps through your thoughts from the foolishness around you (which could be in the form of people you consider to be so close to you these days).

And maybe, just maybe, it should have, it would have, it could have worked.

Flourished.

Blossomed.

Surpassed, all of your doubts and all of your excuses.

Does staying make her stupid?

No

You know why?

Because she was very serious about her warning that if it continues she will then have no choice. But the simple fact that they have been through so much together justifies her reason to stay.

When life throws you lemons, you make L E M O N A D E.

This was not a call to action, necessarily, to get back with your ex, people have it confused. It was a call to action to never ignore nor give up on the person whose heartbeat is in sync with yours.

You would literally be a FOOL, to let that pass you by because powerful energy like that only comes once in a lifetime.

That kind of love she described is something that many of us in this generation unfortunately will never know.

We are not put on this earth to be alone. In the end, we only have each other, and when you love deeply, you see right through the other person. There are not faces that you are looking at or being judged by but it is solely your heart and soul.

Nothing else matters.

“Nothing real can be threatened.”

-Beyoncé

Beyoncé has set the bar high in many forms. She made it a point to connect love with the mothers losing their children, children losing their parents and to the beautiful and creative angel we just lost by the name of Prince.

The song where Beyoncé was playing the piano was inspired by Prince. He told her, “Once you learn how to play the piano, you will be unstoppable.” Shortly after he passed she dropped her project, that’s not a coincidence.

It’s amazing how everything really works together.

This all goes to show how music is the connect and how none of this fame and fortune means anything if you have no one to share it with.

Dig deeper.

“Pull me back together again the way you tore me in half.”

– Beyoncé

“Everyone has their own experience. That’s why we are here, to go through our experience to learn, to go down those paths and eventually you may have gone down so many paths and learned so much that you don’t have to come back again.”

-Prince
